Water Service Restored to Mt. Carmel Grove City Hospital

GROVE CITY, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio Department of Health says the water service has been restored to most of Mt. Carmel Grove City Hospital, following the outbreak of Legionaire's Disease that infected over a dozen patients.

14 people in all were infected, with one person dying as a result. The outbreak was acknowledged last week, and hospital officials worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to disinfect the hospital's water system.

The hospital had remained open and treating patients as the water system was flushed, but patients and workers were stuck drinking bottled water.

Legionnaire's is spread through infected water, and has symptoms similar to pneumonia. The elderly are especially vulnerable to the symptoms.
