Armed Robbery Suspect Shot By Police, Arrested

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus Police say a robbery suspect was shot by an officer that responded to the scene, but the suspect still tried to get away.

Officers say it started with the holdup at the CVS pharmacy on West Broad Street Tuesday morning, with the suspect armed with a gun, demanding narcotics.

As the suspect fled, an officer arrived on scene and tried to prevent the suspect from getting into a vehicle. The officer fired a shot, hitting the suspect, who still managed to flee.

The suspect later caused an accident at I-70 and West Broad Street, but took off again in his vehicle.

He was eventually stopped and arrested on Belvidere Avenue. Investigators did recover a gun from the vehicle, which was also reported stolen.

The suspect was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition. For now, the suspect is charged with aggravated robbery, but more charges are forthcoming, according to CPD.

The suspect's name is currently being withheld, as detectives look into whether he's committed other recent robberies.
