Matriarch of Family Involved in Pike County Murders has Charges Dropped

WAVERLY, Ohio (WTVN)--One of the two grandmothers originally charged in connection to the Pike County murders has had her charges dropped.

Frederika Wagner was originally charged with perjury and obstruction of justice for covering up evidence in the murders of eight members of the Rhoden family from April 2016.

Prosecutors Wednesday opted to drop the charges because they could not provide her with a speedy trial.

Wagner's son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons are charged with murder. The case against Rita Newcomb is still working its way through the court system.

The murders, allegedly carried out by George Wagner III, George Wagner IV, Algela Wagner, and Billy Wagner, are believed to have stemmed from a custody dispute.
