Ohio State Fair SkyGlider Passes Inspection

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The popular SkyGlider at the Ohio State Fair has passed its initial inspection, following a complete revamp of the midway staple.

Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Dorothy Pelanda personally helped inspect the ride, which now has all new lift chairs, a new brake system, and new permanent fencing.

The ODA handles ride inspections across the state.

The inspection follows a report that fair managers neglected a letter from the ride's manufacturer nearly two years ago, that said the chairs needed to be replaced due to deterioration.

It also follows the "Fire Ball" ride accident at the Ohio State Fair in 2017, that eventually led to two deaths.\

The 2019 Ohio State Fair runs from July 24th to August 4th.
