Ohio State Fair to Host "Sensory Friendly Day"

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio State Fair will host a special day for guests with autism or other special sensory needs this year.

It's being dubbed "Special Sensory Day", where the midway rides will operate without their flashing lights or loud music.

It's set for 10AM to 1PM on Wednesday, July 31st.

General Manager Virgil Strickler said the fair can be overwhelming, and the sensory event is meant to make the fair enjoyable for all families.

The sensory-friendly day is in collaboration with the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence.

The 2019 Ohio State Fair Begins Wednesday, July 24th and runs through Sunday, August 4th.
