Firearms Stolen from Clinton Twp. Police Cruisers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Police in Clinton Township, northeast of Columbus, are investigating the theft of two firearms, including a shotgun and an AR-15 rifle, from two police cruisers.

Officers say the thefts occurred early Tuesday, while the cruisers were parked in a fenced police lot. The thieves had to tear through the interior of the vehicles and into a steel-enforced secure system to obtain the weapons.

Investigators will now be checking out local pawn shops and gun shows to see if the firearms show up.

The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is assisting the Franklin County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.
