Fake Uber Driver Prompts Safety Alert near OSU campus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A public safety alert was issued for The Ohio State University area Sunday, after a student claimed someone attempted to lure her into their vehicle.

The alert says the female student was walking along East 15th Avenue, near Indianola, Sunday afternoon, when a white medium-sized car stopped, and the driver asked her to get in the vehicle.

There was a hand-written "Uber" sign in the car's windshield.

The student refused, and the driver took off.

The driver is described as a black male in his 30’s with long dreadlocks, standing approximately 6’0” and weighing 190 pounds.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Columbus Police.
