COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Columbus Crew SC will officially turn the dirt on their new downtown stadium next month.
Team officials say a ceremony for groundbreaking on the new facility will be on October 10th.
The team is inviting fans to attend the event, with the stadium to be built near the confluence of the Olentangy and Scioto Rivers, in the Arena District.
The first 500 Crew supporters in attendance will receive a commemorative mini-shovel to mark the occasion.
The stadium will be the centerpiece of a new development, with retail and office space and apartments also part of the project.
The new stadium will likely be ready by mid-2021.
