CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WTVN)--A man is in custody in Circleville, after assaulting another man and setting him on fire, leading to his death.
Police say they initially received a call to the area along West Main Street late Monday, on a report of the smell of smoke, and found the victim assaulted and on fire.
That victim was first taken to Berger OhioHealth Hospital, and later to OSU Wexner Medical Center, where he died.
The investigation revealed that Gregory Hardman was a person of interest in the crime, and was taken in for questioning.
Officers obtained enough information and evidence to hold Hardman, and charge him with aggravated murder.
The victim has not yet been identified.
Circleville Police are getting help from the State Fire Marshal, The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Ohio Attorney General's office in the investigation.
