COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Franklin County Sheriff's Office will unveil a new policy regarding vehicle pursuits, following recent crashes in the area as a result of a pursuit.
Sheriff Dallas Baldwin says future pursuits will require the oversight of a 2nd deputy, regardless of rank.
He points out that the termination of pursuits has gone up 300% in the last six months.
Back in February, a pedestrian was struck and killed during a pursuit, with officers chasing a suspect in a stolen car along South Hamilton Road.
Baldwin says the policy will be finalized in a few weeks, and pursuits will be reserved for more serious violations.
