COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Columbus Police Department has received 15 applications for candidates to fill the position of Chief of Police, from outside of the department.
The deadline for candidates to apply for the position, from other departments, passed on Monday. Applications were received from candidates in Detroit, Atlanta, Kansas City, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh, among other places.
Kim Jacobs retired from the position in February, and Thomas Quinlan has been serving as Interim Chief since.
A search firm hired by the city will begin the process of vetting candidates and setting up interviews. A series of community meetings with the finalists will also be held before a new Police Chief is named.
