COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio Department of Transportation says the state's first "smartlane" will open on I-670 East next week.
Crews have spent months putting up electronic signs and improving the roadway, between Leonard Avenue and I-270, to add a 4th lane, which will only be open during the afternoon rush hour, to assist with outbound traffic.
The "smartlane" is seto to open Wednesday, October 23rd.
The signs will indicate when the "smartlane" will be open. The drawback for drivers is that the speed limit will be reduced to 45 miles an hour.
Additionally, the ramps from 670 to US 62, I-270, and Easton will all be opening this weekend.
