Fire Engulfs Homeless Camp near New Columbus Crew Stadium

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A fire broke out Sunday afternoon at a homeless camp in the Arena District, near the site of the new Columbus Crew Stadium.

Fire crews say it engulfed tents, blankets, and grass along a 70-foot long camp near the Scioto River. Crews had to use the helicopter to spot the source of the fire, before it could be brought under control.

Drivers across downtown Columbus could see the smoke from the fire, which went up hundreds of feet into the air.

There were no reports if injuries. There's been no word yet on what started the fire.
