Loaded Gun Found in Carry-On Bag at John Glenn Columbus Airport

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Transportation Security Administration found a loaded handgun in the carry-on bag of a passenger at John Glenn Columbus International Airport on Monday.

The discovery was made around 10AM, and the Kimber 9mm weapon was found. Airport security was called, the bag was taken into possession, and the passenger was escorted from the security area.

It is the 23rd firearm found by TSA officers at CMH this year. 26 weapons were found at the airport in all of 2018.

Officials want to remind passengers that firearms can be transported in checked luggage, if they are declared to the airline, in a proper carrying case, and unloaded.

Guns are prohibited in carry-on bags.
