Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Delaware County

DELAWARE, Ohio (WTVN)--A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday afternoon in Delaware County.

According to the Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a car driven by 17-year-old Joseph Church of Delaware was heading northbound on 23, near mile post 9 in Liberty Township, just before 4PM, when the vehicle left it's lane off the right side of the road and struck the pedestrian.

48-year-old Adam Bailey of Columbus was walking alongside the road when it happened. He was struck by the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to OhioHealth Children's Hospital in Lewis Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Church was wearing a seat belt, and it's not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
