COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio State Buckeyes are Number-1 in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2019 sesason.
The poll was released Tuesday by the committee that will ultimately decide which four teams will play for the national championship at the end of the season. Ohio State is followed by LSU at Number-2, Alabama is 3rd, and Penn State is Number-4.
Ohio State and Penn State will play each other on November 23rd, in Columbus. The Tigers and Crimson Tide play each other this Saturday.
The Buckeyes are coming off another bye week, following their 38-7 win over Wisconsin on October 26th. The final CFP poll of the season will be released on December 8th.
The semifinals will be held this season at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona, and the Peach Bowl in Atlanta on Dec. 28. The national championship game is Jan. 13 in New Orleans.
Ohio State won the first College Football Playoff National Championship in 2014. They last made the playoff after the 2016 season, and lost to Clemson in the semifinal 31-0.
