Trooper Injured in Distracted Driving Crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol is on the mend, after getting struck by a distracted driver Thursday morning.

The patrol says Trooper Jason Hofmann, of the West Jefferson post, was outside of his vehicle, wearing a reflective vest, investigating a previous crash along US 42, near I-70, around 5:30AM, when the passing vehicle left its lane and struck him.

Hofmann was taken to OSU Wexner Medical Center by helicopter for treatment. Officials say he has no internal injuries.

The driver, 64-year-old Cynthia Faulk of Plain City, was not injured in the crash. The investigation continues.
