COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A 911 call Thursday evening, with a burn victim claiming to be working on a quantum physics generator, prompted a hazmat response, as well as an entire neighborhood to be evacuated.
Columbus Fire crews responded to the scene along Chippenhook Court around 7PM, after the caller was using terms like "alpha rays", "radiation", and "particle accelerator".
The caller claimed to have been burned by radio frequency waves, and dozens of homes were evacuated while hazmat crews and the bomb squad investigated.
Neither crews found anything dangerous, and the caller was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.
Columbus Fire Battallion Chief Steve Martin says the subject is facing a possible charge of inducing panic, for the inconvenience caused to the neighborhood.
Crews cleared the scene around 9PM Thursday, and neighbors were allowed to return to their homes.
