Three Orange Twp. Firefighters Dismissed Over Hazing

DELAWARE, Ohio (WTVN)--Three members of the Orange Township Fire Department have been fired, after an investigation revealed they were hazing a fellow firefighter.

The trustees made the decision Monday to dismiss the Firefighter, Lieutenant and Captain, after the victim, a part-time firefighter, requested a transfer to another station in September.

The hazing included verbal and physical abuse, according to the results of an investigation. A 4th firefighter was implicated in the abuse, but was not fired.

Those reports show the firefighter was forced to carry a trash can around his neck; that he was verbally abused and called “a f****ing embarrassment;” and that he was frequently hit and smacked in the groin area.

The abuse occurred at Fire Station 361 on Gooding Boulevard.
