Columbus to Join Indoor Football League in 2021

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The city of Columbus will not be going without a professional football team for long.

Following the announcement of the Arena Football League ceasing operations, including the 2nd iteration of the Columbus Destroyers, the city will be getting an Indoor Football league team in 2021. The team will play its home games at Nationwide Arena.

The Germain family, who has several successful car dealerships in central Ohio, will be the main sponsor of the league and the team. A name for the team is expected to be released early next year.

The team will be coached by former Ohio State Wide Receiver Bobby Olive. Also on the coaching staff will be 610-WTVN Buckeye Football Analyst Stanley Jackson.

The Indoor Football League has teams in Phoenix, Arizona; Oakland, California; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Spokane, Washington, among other cities.
