Woman Struck and Killed by Truck While Exiting COTA Bus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A Columbus woman is the city's first traffic fatality of 2020.

Columbus Police say 27-year-old Marian Hughes was exiting a COTA bus at the stop along Alum Creek Drive, South of Winslow Drive, Monday afternoon around 12:30PM.

Hughes attempted to cross Alum Creek Drive in front of the bus when she was hit by a pickup truck in the left southbound lane.

Hughes was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The CPD Accident Investigation Unit also responded to the scene, and continues to assist in the investigation.
