Gahanna Car Chase Ends With Passenger Dead, Suspect Arrested

GAHANNA, Ohio (WTVN)--A suspect wanted for an outstanding warrant led police on a chase through Gahanna Wednesday that ended in a crash, and a passenger in the car dead.

Police say it started with a report of a man wanted for a warrant for a domestic incident. When officers located the vehicle, the suspect took off.

The chase lasted for about four minutes, and ended when the suspect vehicle crashed into a tree, near the intersection of Clark State Road and Headly Road.

The suspect, identified as Christopher McCleese, then tried to run from officers, but was captured a short time later.

The passenger was then discovered dead in his vehicle.

The Franklin County Coroner and Sheriff's Office are both investigating. The victim's identity is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
