Two Dead in Car Crash, With the Vehicle Into a Building

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Two people died when a car left the roadway and crashed into a building.

Columbus Police say it happened early Sunday morning. Investigators say the car was heading down the ramp from I-71 North to Lenoard Avenue just before 2AM, but it went off the ramp, struck a tree, and into the wall of a home along Hamilton Avenue.

Police were notified of the crash through a burglary alarm at the residence.

51-year-old Jonathan Mitchell of Columbus was the driver of the vehicle. He died as a result, along with his passenger, who has yet to be publicly identified.

The deaths are Columbus's 2nd and 3rd traffic fatalities in 2020.
