CPD Officer Shoots, Kills Robbery Suspect Near OSU Campus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A suspect who attempted to rob a restaurant near the OSU campus early Saturday morning was shot and killed by a Columbus Police officer.

Police responded to the Bob Evans on Olentangy River Road around 7:30AM Saturday morning. The suspect entered the office area of the business and demanded money from the safe.

A manager tried to comply, but the suspect grew impatient and assaulted the manager.

The suspect fled through a back door, and that's where a responding officer confronted the suspect, and fired multiple shots.

The suspect was taken to OSU Wexner Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

No officers were injured in the incident. The identity of the suspect is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
