HILLIARD, Ohio (WTVN)--A mother and father have been indicted for the death of their newborn baby, the result of an overdose of fentanyl.
39-year-old Ehren Schumacher and 31-year-old Hazel Piuri were arrested at their home in Hilliard Friday, after an indictment was returned that charged Schumacher with reckless homicide, and Piuri with child endangering and drug possession.
Investigators say two-month-old Rhaden Schumacher was found unresponsive at the couple's residence in the Franklin's Crossing apartment complex back in September. A toxicology report from the autopsy conducted by the Franklin County Coroner revealed the fentanyl in the baby's system, prompting the indictment.
Court records did not indicate how the drug was ingested by the baby.
