Girlfriend Arrested for Boyfriend's Murder Near Gahanna

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A woman calls 9-1-1 to report that her boyfriend had been shot, but Columbus Police end up arresting her for pulling the trigger.

It started with a call of a shooting along Gadwall Road, near Gahanna, Sunday afternoon just after 4:30PM. Officers arrived to find 56-year-old John Mazara with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.

The victim's girlfriend, 30-year-old Danielle Ennis, originally said she found him like that when she returned to the home. Investigators say through subsequent interviews and physical evidence, Ennis was actually the one responsible for the shooting.

Ennis was taken into custody and charged with murder. The incident is Columbus's 19th homicide of 2020.
