COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A measure has been introduced at the Ohio Statehouse to prevent teenage boys that identify as girls from participating in girls sports in high school.
State Representative Jenna Powell introduced the legislation, saying it is meant to preserve the integrity of girls sports, and would apply to the Ohio High School Athletic Association if passed.
Powell says similar moves made in other state prompted her to take action here in Ohio, and the reaction to the proposal she has received has been mostly positive.
In a separate move, Ohio lawmakers are also considering a measure that would prevent state funding from being used to pay for medical care for a transition for someone under age 18.
