Police Remove Alligator From A Madison Township Home

Madison Township Police Department received information on February 27th, 2020 that a American Alligator was being penned in the basement of a house in Groveport, Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Agriculture was then notified and it was confirmed that the residents did not have a valid exotic animal permit that's required by Ohio law.

State wildlife officials went to the scene with Commander Darrell Breneman where the owner voluntarily surrendered the alligator.

According to the Madison Township Police Department the 25-year-old alligator will be retiring to an animal sanctuary in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
