Columbus Prepares for The Arnold Sports Festival 2020

Thousands of people from around the world will be heading to Columbus this week for the The Arnold Sports Festival.

22,000 athletes from 80 nations competing in events.

Hotels, gyms and restaurants will be packed this week. Hotels have to prepare months in advance as the fierce, strict regimen athletes get themselves prepared to compete.

Executive Chef at The Hilton Columbus Downtown, Bill Glover has been with the host hotel since they opened more than 8 years ago. He tells us this event is all hands on deck. From the correct towels used in rooms this week all the way to measuring each meal to make sure it's just right for their guests. After all the athletes food intake is obviously very important.

It's all about making the guests feel like their at home especially since many of them are staying at the host hotel for the full week.

Back to the food talk... would you guess how much extra food is being brought in to correctly feed these athletes? We're talking around 4,900 pounds of meat. To give a better idea, that's more than 1,000 pounds of bacon. 1,500 pounds of boneless skinless chicken. 600 8-ounce burgers. Lean beef, fish and boneless skinless chicken. 20-25,000 whole eggs. There are times when a omelette is being prepared with more than 12 eggs.

Bill Glover even prepares meals for Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. Listen to the full interview HERE

Events begin Thursday.

The Arnold Sports Festival is being held in downtown Columbus at Greater Columbus Convention Center, March 5-8th, 2020.
