Ohio Legislature Passes Coronavirus-Related Measures

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--In an unusual day at the Ohio Statehouse, the Ohio House and Senate swiftly passed a measure dealing with the coronavirus outbreak.

The bill moves the state's tax filing deadline to July 15th, to coincide with the previously-announced federal deadline extension. It also extends mail-in voting for the Ohio Primary to April 28th.

With all of Ohio's schools ordered to close for three weeks, the legislautre also eliminated state-mandated testing for the rest of the school year.

With regard to utilities, the measure prevents water shutoffs, and eliminates barriers for unemployment compensation.

Governor Mike DeWine says he will sign the bill.
