Ohio Governor Issues Order Regarding Coronavirus Tests

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has issued an order regarding coronavirus tests in the Buckeye State.

DeWine Wednesday said an order was signed by Dr. Amy Acton, Director of the Ohio Department of Health, directing hospitals that conduct testing for COVID-19 to send those tests to large regional hospitals or state labs for results.

DeWine noted OSU's Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, and The Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals in Cleveland, that have the capacity to handle the tests, but are not currently being used.

DeWine says the tests that are sent to private labs have results come back in about five days, but that's not fast enough.

As of Wednesday, there were 2,547 cases of COVID-19 in Ohio, with 65 deaths.
