COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Three major grocery retailers, with locations across central Ohio, have all instituted buying limits in meat, due to a pending shortage in the supply chain.

Costco is limiting beef, pork, and poultry product purchases to three per customer. Kroger is putting similar limits on those purchases, and Giant Eagle is limiting ground beef to two per customer, and two sale items per customer.

The retailers all say that it is not yet an issue with the supply, but the demand. Supply chain experts have warned about a pending shortage in the meat supply, due to major meat processing plants seeing outbreaks of coronavirus in their workforce.

President Trump signed an executive order to keep the processing plants open, to prevent a shortage of supply.
