2020 Ohio State Fair Canceled

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio State Fair has been canceled for 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The vote was unanimous of the members of the Ohio Expo Comission Thursday, which met via videoconference.

Fair Director Virgil Strickler says it's the toughest decision he's made in his 18 years overseeing the fair.

It's typically held from late-July until Early August. The fair has been in existence since 1851, and held in its current location at the Ohio Expo Center since 1886.

It's actually not the first time a disease outbreak has canceled the fair. Back in 1849, an outbreak of Asiatic cholera canceled plans for the first Ohio State Fair.
