National Guard to Test For Coronavirus at all Ohio Nursing Homes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Tuesday announced that all employees of nursing homes across the state will be tested for coronavirus. Residents will also be tested based on assessment.

DeWine says nursing homes that have confirmed cases of COVID-19 will get priority for testing. The Ohio National Guard will carry out the tests.

The Governor calls it a new phase in testing, saying updates on that testing will be done once a week.

There are 960 nursing homes in Ohio, with about 200 of them having some history of coronavirus.

DeWine Tuesday also announcing that all staff and residents at state developmental centers will also be tested for coronavirus.
