COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Central Ohio's three biggest hospital systems are lifting restrictions on visitors for patients today, albeit only slightly.

OhioHealth, Mount Carmel, and OSU Wexner Medical Center will all allow one designated visitor per patient. Those visitors will be required to wear a mask, be subject to a temperature check, and be asympotomatic for COVID-19 for the duration of their visit.

OSU and Mount Carmel will still not allow visitors to their emergency departments, but the one-visitor policy will apply to the emergency department at OhioHealth.

Hospitals have been permitted to resume elective surgeries, after they were postponed when the coronavirus pandemic began, so the hospitals could use the beds available for possible COVID-19 patients.
