COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The coronavirus-delayed Memorial Tournament will be held without fans this year.

Organizers made the announcement Monday, saying the increasing number of coronavirus cases across the country prompted the reversal.

There had been a fraction of the typical number of patron badges sold for this year's event, to help the venue adhere to social distancing.

With all of the changes on the PGA Tour due to COVID-19, there are now two events set for Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin this month. An unnamed Workday event is set for this Thursday through Sunday, followed by the Memorial Tournament next Thursday-Sunday.

The Workday event was previously scheduled to be held without fans.
