Retired OSU President Has New Job

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Just one week after retiring from his position at The Ohio State University, Dr. Michael Drake has a new job.

Dr. Drake has been appointed the President of the University of California system, which consists of ten campuses across the Golden State.

That also includes UC Irvine, where Dr. Drake served as Chancellor before coming to Ohio State.

The University of California system is composed of campuses at Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz, along with five medical centers, and three laboratories.

Dr. Drake retired from Ohio State on July 1st, after serving as president since 2014. Dr. Kristina Johnson was named by the University's Board of Trustees to replace him.
