B1G Goes to Conference-Only Schedules for Fall Sports

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Big Ten Conference Thursday that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the conference's fall sports schedule will be conference games only.

The announcement means the Ohio State Football non-conference schedule is canceled, including the game at Oregon on September 12th.

Ohio State Athletics Director Gene Smith hold a conference call with reporters following the announcement, indicating he is much less optimistic about a season happening at all this fall.

Smith says the move allows the conference to have to month of September to have conference games, if the situation allows.

The move follows the cancellation of all voluntary workouts on campus for Ohio State student-athletes in fall sports, following positive cases of coronavirus.

With the Big Ten's announcement, Ohio State's football schedule now begins on September 26th, against Rutgers.
