Ohio State Resumes Voluntary Workouts for Student-Athletes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Voluntary workouts resumed Tuesday for student-athletes at The Ohio State University.

The Department of Athletics suspended the activities last week, after a round of coronavirus testing for student-athletes. The university did not release the results of those tests, citing students' personal medical records.

The workouts are for those participating in football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, field hockey, and women's volleyball.

Moving forward, Athletic Director Gene Smith said the athletes will be tested routinely and training decisions will continue to be re-evaluated by medical staff to protect the health and safety of students.

The university said that a strict set of protocols are in place requiring physical distancing, masks, hygiene, and cleaning procedures.
