COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Ohio State Quarterback Justin Fields is not giving up on the prospect of Big Ten football in 2020.

The Heisman Trophy candidate introduced an online petition, calling for the Big Ten Conference to reinstate the fall football season.

Fields says the decision to play during the coronavirus pandemic should be left to individual players and teams, on whether or not it is safe to play.

As of early Monday morning, the petition had over 200,000 signatures.

Last week, the conference announced all fall sports, including football, will be postponed until the spring at the earliest. Experts say a spring football season is just not feasible, especially for those looking to play in the NFL.
