Ohio Governor's Pick for New ODH Director Withdraws

Dr. Joan Duwve

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--After originally announcing a new Director of the Ohio Department of Health on Thursday, Governor Mike DeWine says the pick has withdrawn from consideration.

DeWine introduced Dr. Joan Duwve as his pick to replace Dr. Amy Acton on a permanent basis, following Dr. Acton's resignation in June. DeWine's official twitter account later announced that Dr. Duwve has withdrawn, citing personal reasons.

DeWine says the search continues for a new Director for ODH.

Dr. Duwve has recently served as Director of Public Health for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Lance Himes has been serving as Interim ODH Director since Dr. Acton's resignation.
