Man Pleads Guilty to Posing As Nurse, Caring for Sick Children

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A man has admitted in court to stealing a nurse's identity, to get a job as a nurse himself, and even care for sick children.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost says 28-year-old Martez Morris created fraudulent documents, using the stolen identity, and was able to obtain a job as a licensed practical nurse.

Morris as able to carry on the ruse for nearly four years, and even cared for children, including a 20-month-old child, where Morris administered breathing treatments and gave medication.

Morris initially denied the allegations when confronted with the evidence in 2019, but later confessed.

His guilty plea in Franklin County Common Pleas Court includes felonies of Identity Fraud, Tampering With Evidence, Medicaid Fraud, and Practicing Nursing Without a License.

Morris initially spent 8 months in jail in 2019, before posting a $200,000 bond. Now, his sentencing is set for December 17th.
