COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The number of new coronavius cases in Ohio continues to head in the wrong direction.
On Wednesday, the Ohio Department of Health reported another new record number of cases for a 24-hour period, with 2,366 new infections.
In the last 7 days, the state has been above 2,000 new cases per day in five of those days. Health officials have emphasized that family gatherings are now the leading cause of the spread.
Governor Mike DeWine continues to emphasize the use of masks, and urging Ohioans to continue to practice social distancing.
Since the pandemic began, there have been over 188,000 coronavirus cases reported in Ohio, with just over 5,100 people dying.
