New Leadership Announced for Ohio Department of Health

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--With the state of Ohio setting new records in the number of daily cases of coronavirus, Governor Mike DeWine has filled leadership roles at the Ohio Department of Health.

DeWine Thursday announced that Stephanie McCloud will serve as the agency's new Director. She comes in from her role as CEO of the Ohio Bureau of Worker's Compensation.

Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff will also serve as the agency's Chief Medical Officer. He has been serving as Chief Medical Officer for OhioHealth.

McCloud replaces Dr. Amy Acton, who resigned from the position in June. Lance Himes had been serving as Interim Director up until now. He remains on as Senior Deputy Director.

On Thursday, Ohio reported nearly 5,000 new cases of coronavirus, which is another record for a single day. Cases have been above 4,000 for four days in a row.
