Franklin County in Danger of Going "Purple" on Coronavirus Advisory Map

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The coronavirus situation in Franklin County is only getting worse, with the county now in the brink of going to the highest level in the state's advisory system.

Governor Mike DeWine Thursday said Franklin and Tuscarawas Counties are on the watch list to go "purple", due to statistical indicators noting the spread of coronavirus. DeWine added 68 of Ohio's 88 counties are now in the "red".

Every county in central Ohio is also now in the "red" level 3 status.

Thursday was also another new record for new coronavirus cases reported in Ohio in a single day, with over 7,000 confirmed and probable cases.

DeWine notes deaths and hospitalizations remain above the 21-day average in Ohio.
