Sen. Portman Participating in COVID-19 Vaccine Trial

CINCINNATI, Ohio (WTVN)--The effort to find an effective vaccine to end the coronavirus pandemic is getting help from US Senator Rob Portman.

The lawmaker from the Cincinnati area went on CNBC this morning to announce he is participating in coronavirus vaccine trial.

It's the ENSEMBLE Phase 3 vaccine candidate being developed by Janssen-Johnson & Johnson, with their clinical trial research center in Cincinnati.

Portman also urged others to participate in clinical trials across the nation.

Portman tells CNBC he feels great, and noted 50% of participants get the vaccine and the other 50% get the placebo.

He also urged Congress to pass another COVID-19 bill to ensure the necessary funding for the vaccination process to continue.
