Three Major Central Ohio Hospitals Reinstitute "No Visitors" Policy

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Central Ohio's three major hospital systems reinstituted a policy that prevents patients from having visitors while in their facilities, in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Mt. Carmel, OhioHealth, and OSU Wexner Medical Center all applied the policy to those receiving inpatient and emergency room treatment.

Exceptions to the policy include maternity, end-of-life situations, patients with impairments, and patients who are minors.

The hospitals originally instituted the policy back in March, when the coronavirus pandemic began, but it was later relaxed. The recent surge in coronavirus cases in the state prompted the return to the policy.

Officials say it is in place for the safety of hospital patients and staff.
