Three More Homicides in Columbus Bring Total for 2021 to 8

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The deadly start to the year 2021 in Columbus continues, with three more homicides across the city overnight, bringing the total in just the first 6 days to 8.

The latest incidents include a double-homicide along Fairwood Avenue early Wednesday. A Columbus Police officer investigated a suspicious vehicle near Deshler Park around 1:30AM. One of the victims was found in the vehicle, and another was found on the ground near the car. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Then at 3AM, officers received a call of shots fired at a gas station along East Hudson Street, at Joyce Avenue. That victim was taken to a local hospital, but later died.

No suspects or motives were released in either case.

The city of Columbus recorded 174 homicides in 2020, surpassing the previous record of 143, set in 2017.
