Teenage Robbery Suspect Shot Dead

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--A teenager who was attempting to rob someone at gunpoint ended up dying of a gunshot wound himself.

Columbus Police responded to the area along East Hudson Street, around 7:30PM Tuesday. 18-year-old Kiran Hill and 17-year-old Josiah Cocroft had approached the man near the E&E market, and Hill displayed a handgun, in a robbery attempt.

That man had a CCW, so he pulled out a weapon of his own, and shot Hill. The robbery victim waited for officers to arrive. Hill was taken to Riverside Hospital, but later died.

Cocroft was arrested and charged with murder. It is considered Columbus's 12th homicide in just the first 12 days of 2021.
