Josh Mandel Announces Run for US Senate

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Josh Mandel is ready to dive into Ohio politics again.

On Wednesday, the former Ohio Treasurer of State announced his candidacy for US Senate in 2022. He'll look to take over the seat being vacated by Rob Portman, a fellow Republican who is not running for re-election.

Mandel was elected state Treasurer in 2010, and challenged Sherrod Brown for his US Senate seat in 2012. Brown won re-election that year.

Mandel won re-election as Ohio Treasurer of State in 2014, and also originally announced his intention to run for Senate again in 2018, but dropped out in January of that year.

Mandel describes himself as a pro-Trump republican, saying he will continue to fight for the Trump policies if elected.
